Elev8 Program. Create. Build. Test.

Acadia Entrepreneurship Centre in partnership with Digital Nova Scotia, will be hosting virtual programming for students in grades six through eight this fall and in the Spring of 2021. The program will combine digital technology and innovation workshops with entrepreneurial skills development workshops that focus on problem-solving, communications, critical thinking and teamwork, all skills valued by today’s employers, and aligned with learning outcomes.

These workshops will challenge youth to use technology and innovation to solve real-world problems and provide guidance and business models to test their ideas.

Two introductory workshops are being hosted virtually via the Zoom platform in November and weekly workshops will begin in January 2021, and run until March. The programming will culminate in a showcase where students can pitch their ideas to a jury panel for a chance to win prizes and gain valuable feedback.

Innovating on The Internet – November 5, 6:00 – 8:00 pm, (Max. 20 participants, Free to attend)

Have the next (big or small) idea, no budget, or development skills? No problem – you shouldn’t start with building anyway.

In this hands on workshop we will explore pre-product design tools that anyone can pick up to express their app idea. With these tools you will walk away with a means to engage your user base to test concepts, gather feedback quickly, very inexpensively, and early on in the product cycle.

Don’t have a big idea? You will eventually. We will have some starter ideas on hand for you to play with. Come build your innovation skill set with us.

Building a Business Idea – November 12, 6:00 – 8:00 pm (Max. 20 participants, Free to attend)

Where do great ideas come from? How do you test them? How do you build a business?

Come test your ideas, learn what type of entrepreneur you are, how to identify customers, build a business model, and pitch your idea. Build your tool kit and have fun working with others.
